this morning i watched a neighborhood magpie picking wilted berries off the schoolyard lawn. a grey wind chilled me, only because i was sweating. and i remembered winter. how will i keep through this one? my recovery from the last…did we miss summer? then my magpie cawed. not at me. she flapped a wing, pecked at a berry. just as she will everyday, with or without grey winds.

A year ago, Utah switched its state workers to a 4-day workweek (4 days @ 10 hours/day). It has resulted in a 13% reduction in energy use, 12,000 fewer metric tons of greenhouse gas, and state employees have saved $6 million on fuel.
